Nebius Deploys NVIDIA Vera Rubin in Finland

Nebius installed and validated the complete NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 rack at its Finnish data-center site. The company is also deploying NVIDIA Spectrum-6 networking switches at the same location.

A rack-scale system combines processors, memory, networking and supporting technology into a tightly integrated infrastructure platform. This approach is designed to operate large AI models more efficiently than collections of individually configured servers.

Nebius said its close development relationship with NVIDIA allows the company to work with new platforms at an early stage and reduce the time between receiving an initial rack and running commercial workloads.

That deployment speed is strategically important. AI developers require access to new computing architectures as quickly as possible, particularly when the latest systems offer lower operating costs or higher performance.

Nebius’ ability to commission the platform early could help it attract customers seeking computing capacity that is not yet widely available. It may also strengthen the company’s position against larger cloud platforms and competing specialist providers.

The next phase will involve tuning the software and testing the rack under production conditions. These steps are necessary to confirm that the system can operate reliably and deliver its expected performance when customers begin using it.

Why NVIDIA Vera Rubin Matters

NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 represents the next generation of the company’s rack-scale AI infrastructure.

According to the source report, NVIDIA began mass production of the platform in June 2026. Systems have also been deployed by CoreWeave, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with manufacturing activity spread across more than 350 locations in 30 countries.

The architecture combines seven co-developed chips and uses HBM4, a new generation of high-bandwidth memory. Each GPU reportedly provides 22 terabytes per second of aggregate memory bandwidth, approximately 2.8 times the level offered by the previous Blackwell generation.

Memory bandwidth measures how rapidly information can move between a processor and its memory. Higher bandwidth is important because advanced AI models must process enormous quantities of data without leaving expensive computing units waiting for information.

The platform also uses NVLink 6, which reportedly provides 3.6 terabytes per second of bidirectional bandwidth for each GPU. NVIDIA estimates that the system can reduce the cost per inference token to approximately one-tenth of the equivalent Blackwell level.

Inference occurs when a trained AI model processes a user request and produces an output. Lower inference costs could make it economically viable to operate more AI applications, serve more users and deploy increasingly complex autonomous agents.

For Nebius, access to this technology could support both customer acquisition and stronger infrastructure economics. The financial value will depend on utilization rates, contract pricing and the capital required to operate the systems.

CoreWeave Reached the Milestone First

Nebius is among the earliest cloud providers to validate Vera Rubin, but it was not the first.

CoreWeave announced in early June that it had completed what it described as the industry’s first commissioning and validation of a Vera Rubin NVL72 system. The company later reported performance results showing that the platform delivered ten times more tokens per second per megawatt than Grace Blackwell NVL72 when running the DeepSeek R1 model.

Tokens are small units of text processed by an AI model. Measuring tokens per second per megawatt connects computing performance with energy consumption, which is becoming increasingly important as AI data centers require enormous amounts of electricity.

CoreWeave’s earlier deployment demonstrates that competition among specialized AI cloud providers remains intense. Access to advanced hardware alone may not create a durable advantage when several providers receive similar systems within a relatively short period.

Nebius must therefore differentiate itself through deployment speed, software performance, pricing, customer service and the availability of computing capacity.

The successful Finnish launch remains meaningful because it shows that Nebius can operate at the technological frontier. The next test will be whether the company converts that capability into customer workloads and recurring revenue.

NVIDIA’s 9.3% Stake Strengthens the Relationship

The timing of the rack announcement has attracted additional attention because NVIDIA recently disclosed a passive 9.3% ownership position in Nebius.

A passive stake generally indicates that the investor does not intend to control the company’s daily operations. Nevertheless, NVIDIA’s ownership may be interpreted as a strategic endorsement of Nebius’ role within the AI infrastructure ecosystem.

The relationship could provide reputational benefits when Nebius approaches potential customers or financing partners. It may also reinforce the perception that the company has close technical access to NVIDIA’s newest platforms.

Investors should avoid assuming that the stake guarantees preferential hardware allocation or future commercial agreements unless those arrangements are explicitly disclosed.

Financing Supports Further AI Infrastructure Expansion

The company has also pointed to more than $40 billion of contracted revenue from investment-grade customers, including Microsoft and Meta Platforms.

Contracted revenue can provide valuable visibility into future demand. It is not the same as immediately recognized sales, because Nebius must build capacity and deliver services before recording the corresponding revenue.

The relationship between financing and customer commitments will be critical. Borrowing against GPU assets may be efficient when the equipment is supported by long-term contracts and high utilization.

Analyst Targets Reflect Strong Expectations

Northland Capital raised its Nebius price target to $410, while Bank of America maintained a $280 target. Freedom Capital also upgraded the shares after revising its valuation approach.

Price targets represent analyst estimates rather than guaranteed future values. They depend on assumptions about growth, margins, capital spending and the valuation investors may assign to the company.

Nebius stock could remain highly volatile because the market is pricing in rapid expansion. Strong operational progress may support that valuation, while deployment delays or weaker financial results could produce a significant correction.

Q2 Earnings Will Be the Next Major Test

Nebius is expected to report its second-quarter financial results in early August.

Analysts anticipate revenue of approximately $583 million, while earnings estimates have been revised upward twice during the previous 90 days.

The report will be the company’s first major financial update following NVIDIA’s investment and the commissioning of the Finnish Vera Rubin rack.
